About Course
This 4-hour CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) class is designed to teach individuals the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to respond to cardiac emergencies. During the class, participants will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of cardiac arrest, perform high-quality CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) if one is available.
The class typically begins with an overview of the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, followed by a discussion of the causes and risk factors of sudden cardiac arrest. The instructor will then demonstrate proper techniques for performing CPR, including chest compressions, rescue breathing, and the use of an AED.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice these skills on manikins under the guidance of the instructor. They will also learn how to perform CPR on infants and children, as well as how to respond to choking emergencies.
Throughout the class, the instructor will emphasize the importance of effective teamwork and communication in responding to cardiac emergencies. Participants will learn how to work with others to quickly assess the situation, initiate CPR, and coordinate the use of an AED.
At the end of the class, participants will have the opportunity to take a skills test to demonstrate their proficiency in CPR and AED use. Upon successful completion of the class, participants will receive a certification in CPR and AED from the American Red Cross or another recognized organization.
